Salem Backpack Program

Children in School Bus
Girl in Class

Studies show that children have difficulty learning when they are hungry. The Salem Backpack Program began in 2012 with just ten students at the Carlton Innovation School and now serves nearly

200 children at all 6 elementary schools

Every Friday of the school year, students are sent home with:

two breakfasts, two lunches, snacks, applesauce, juice, milk and fresh fruit.

Our hope is with continued donations and funding, that we can help every Salem student in need. The Salem Backpack Program is funded through generous donations from the community, including the Salem Rotary and Salem Five.
